K-5 Science Resource CD
This practical teacher resource CD has been created to assist teachers and schools in planning and developing a K-5 science curriculum which will address Ohio’s new science standards. With the new 5th grade achievement test in science being given for the first time in 2006-07, schools may not have much time to restructure their science curricula to match the new standards.
Therefore, the need for curriculum and instructional resources is very great if schools want their science programs in line with the new standards and the new tests. Hence, the development of this K-5 Science Resource CD.
This CD puts everything the teacher needs to find information and resources for the K-5 science standards at their fingertips.
Standards-based Units
- Instructional unit ideas in Earth & Space Science, Life Science and Physical Science are included for each grade level. Each unit is organized with sequential instructional ideas that incorporate the grade level indicators.
Teaching Resources
- Various teaching resources are found on the CD which can help teachers plan and teach the new standards. These resources include over 350 web links to lesson plans and reference materials found on the Internet. Also included are correlated, published resources such as AIMS, Delta, FOSS, STC and BSCS for the instructional unit ideas.
Glossary of Terms
- There is a glossary of the terms which are found in the grade level indicators. This glossary has definitions created for K-5 students and teachers, not complex scientific definitions meant for scientists.
Printable Activities
- There are over 30 printable activities designed to teach many of the grade level indicators for the various standards. The activities can be printed and copied and then used with students in the classroom
